Karina, 25 years old, a recycler in Santa Marta (Colombia). She’s the beneficiary of a Nous Cims and Roots for Sustainability project.

Karina was born in Venezuela and arrived in Santa Marta in July 2018 to take care of her mother, who was going to be operated on. The young 25-year old woman is one of the beneficiary recyclers of a joint project between the Nous Cims Foundation and Roots for Sustainability (R4S), whose objective is to support the informal, but not illegal, workers who collect recyclable materials and subsequently sell them in order to subsist. Every morning, Karina follows the same door-to-door route to collect waste from residents in the 20 de Octubre neighbourhood.
